If you are in Gyaros, do not let your mind dwell upon life in Rome, and all the pleasures it offered to you when living there, and all that would attend your return. Rather, be intent on this—how he that lives in Gyaros may live in Gyaros like a man of spirit. And if you are in Rome, do not let your mind dwell upon life in Athens, but study only how to live in Rome. 

Finally, in the room of all other pleasures put this—the pleasure which springs from conscious acquiescence to God.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

…Charting a path for one’s life is incredibly important, and visualizing what is further down that path can keep us motivated despite the obstacles in our way. But the best way to proactively move forward is to concentrate our focus on the present. So many of us go through life in a fog; a virtual zombie-like state in which we are either lamenting the past or worrying about the future. Wake up, shake away those thoughts, and focus on the present moment. Remember, life is eternal, and time is always on your side. So embrace today and live it to the fullest!
