You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.

Your Bedrock Principles

Two things awe me most, the starry sky above me and the moral law within me.

Kant, Immanuel, by Johann Gottlieb Becker, 1768, pd

—Immanuel Kant (1768, by Johann Gottlieb Becker, public domain)

…our internal moral compass, otherwise known as our character, drives our life. The decisions we make, the actions we take, are all a product of our character. And the stronger the “moral law within me,” the more we are immune from outside forces. There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.

Hugo, Victor by Étienne Carjat_1876_public domain

…We have all experienced or done things in our lives which we wish could be undone. We dwell on, maybe even fantasize about, having the imaginary ability to go back and change what happened or the decision we made that led us down a certain path. When we catch ourselves ruminating about what could have been, it helps tremendously to remember that God sent us down that path for a reason. It had to happen that way! Everything we do while on this journey of life, everything we have been through, is and was done for Spiritual growth. Let us rejoice in that fact, accept the path we have walked along, and remain focused on the glorious road ahead!

You never see what you want to see, forever playing to the gallery.

Davies, Robertson wiki

—Robertson Davies

…So many of us go through so much of our lives being shaped, pushed, prodded, and even defined by the the gallery surrounding us. We put way too much stock in their feedback. Instead, set your sights on a grand vision which energizes you and fills you with passion. Don’t worry about the critics; chart your own path and forge ahead!

Seneca on Integrity

I will govern my life and thoughts as if the whole world were to see the one and read the other, for what does it signify to make anything a secret to my neighbor, when to God, who is the searcher of our hearts, all our privacies are open?

—Seneca the Younger (c. 4 BC – 65 AD, Advisor to Nero)
